Does your hair grow darker and thicker once you get it done?

One of the most common questions we get about dermaplaning is: “Will my facial hair grow back darker or thicker?”

The short answer is no!

Dermaplaning does not change the biology of your hair. Your hair will grow back the same colour and thickness it was before your treatment. A razor cannot magically change how your hair grows.

So why can it feel thicker when it grows back?

This is where the confusion usually comes in.

When dermaplaning removes fine facial hair, the hair is cut at an even length. When it starts growing back, you may notice the hair feels a little different to the touch because the ends are now more uniform.

That can create the illusion that the hair is thicker, but it hasn't actually become thicker or darker.

So if you've been putting off dermaplaning because you're worried about what will happen when your hair grows back, you can relax. Your facial hair will return to its natural colour and thickness.

Dermaplaning is about giving your skin a smoother, fresher feel, not changing the way your hair grows.
